Ok, I’m prepared to be swamped with questions on this one hah.

To start off with, I know there are 1-2 more people testing this as well, so if they would like to chime in, that would be super.

Background Info:
Most of you know Jeff has been doing 1G chips for a while now. Basically mods like TMO, but in his own coding...

I read this post here a couple months back about Jeff wanting 2G people to test his 2G EPROM. I wanted to try! He shot me an email and asked me some questions about my car, what mods I had and such, and told me he'd send a socket and a chip to try out.

Socketing an ECU ended up being a little harder than I thought it would be (Hey, you gotta be careful!). I missed a trace, and talked to Jeff about it. He was kind enough to send me HIS 95 EPROM to get my car back on the road.. What a great guy! Sure enough, when he got my ECU, I had missed 1 trace on the top.

With a couple of small errors here and there, and figuring out some things, we’ve come to a good test chip configuration.

My current chip:
7600 rev, 5500 stutter
650cc correction
no fuel cut
had base fuel pressure set at 38psi for this chip (was accidental)

Waiting to be installed:
7600 rev / 5500 stutter and a 3step (no lift to shift) 6000
No fuel cut
650 correction
MAS hacks for HCs removed
KNOCK GAUGE!
fuel pressure set for 43psi instead

This chip will be installed into my ECU today for testing!

Tuning: (View my mods list in sig first)
-----------------
Previous AFC settings:
Lows in the -20s, Highs on -39 (1600 EGTs)

Currently I sit at - 10s on the highs (due to the base fuel pressure set low on the current chip I run). My timing is 17 degrees at the top of my pulls.

Just initial tuning after this chip made a noticeable difference. My car idles a bit smoother, the WOT pulls are definitely different. I was previously getting up to 23 degrees of timing on my pulls, icky for pump gas. Corrected Injector size and dead time leaves me pulling 17 degrees! The power is back!

No chip.. I ran 20psi, and sure, for a 3055, it felt ok. I got use to it and wasn’t super impressed anymore.

Currently with the chip I use, I'm running 23psi, and IT PULLS. Even set for 20psi made a noticeable difference from stock to hacked.

I can build 16psi on this FP 3055 sitting still  A bit much, and Im sure to expload the trans upon launch attempt! I'll be getting the stutter set lower.

Conclusions:
I could really sit here and type all day about what I’ve done with this chip so far, but I just mainly wanted to break some things down for the community here and get the word out.. Jeffs 2G CHIPS ROCK!!

Please feel free to ask any questions!!

Sounds awesome. I think I'll be picking one of these up. Any information on pricing?

New chip is in....

From old settings on AFC settings to now, no changes by the MAS hacks. Looks like his map is a winner.

My stock boost gauge isnt moving at the moment, which is a GOOD sign. Im going to try and lean things out a bit to see if I can get some knock to test it more.

Ill have more time to tune in a bit after the traffic dies down ;)

Bigjangin: Yes! I currently have my lower and side HCs out! Running like a charm. Gains, feels like a spool reduction and sounds a little different during spool.

Ikickuinthenuts: The pricing should be around 90-100 just like a fully hacked 1G chip.

He also has plans of selling the 95 ECU with a chip too, a combo deal, for you 96+ owners :)

KNOCK GAUGE WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Officially the easiest tunable 2g car EVER.

Knock counts display on your factory boost gauge.

1st needle = 7 counts
2nd needle = 14 counts
highest needle = 21 counts.

I can tell because I have some knock when the motor is cold and Im trying to hit the gas a teeny bit. So far no knock on my WOT pulls.

On the bottom of his page.

Just be aware, this is not "officially" out just yet... Still in the "beta mode" :)

Im sure things will be available shortly. Just a few more tests on some things.

Glad to see he got it up and running. I was also a beta tester for this chip, and the first one he sent me (I dont know if I was the original out of everyone or not) was absolutely horrible, the o2 sensors didnt come online, the car was stuttering, the rev limits were removed completely, horrible. However I told jeff my findings and he realized a possible mistake he had made. I now have DSMlink but jeff i believe has sent me another chip that should probably be sitting at my house back at school, as he wanted to see if Id be willing to give the beta test another try on the new chip. I wonder if he got it down this time. If what you're saying is true, just as I told jeff, I believe the DSM world is about to get flooded with these damn things :). Having something so cheap thats able to compensate for injectors, give a stutterbox, no lift to shift, and display knock is going to sell out faster than supply will allow :). Another difficulty I felt with my particular setup was that I was using a GM MAF so flow readings were slighly different. From the sounds of other posts ive read on this it sounds like your knock gauge is actually reading correctly, however Id like to see what tests have been done to verify this, not doubting anything, just before people rely on it Id wanna make damn sure its working flawless ya know? Jeff was a great guy and everytime we talked he had solid responses and knew his stuff, so I personally would recommend him if this chip does in fact work the way you're saying.

For the knock.... Since there is no REAL way to log it... Im not sure how Ide ever be able to prove it really.

All I can say is.. by the list of mods, im not a newbie tuner :) And the fact that I can feel the timing pull on the partial throttle accels when the motor is cold.. I can cover the gauge and tell you when the thing is knocking.

Like an "BETA" product, I'll be outside tuning again tonight for further results on this newest chip.

Afterwards, I'll also be testing this with a MAFT setup as well. Jeff sent me 2 more chips this AM. Both for an UNHACKED mas, with a 2step and the other with a 3step. Those are my MAFT chips.

I have 7 chips rite now, and 2 more on the way. Its taken much time and thought to get where were currently at on this 2G eprom setup.

Hook up the 3-step. I want to know how it works. :)

Today is shot.. Tomorrow the wire goes in. I spent my couple hrs of day light adding a catback so I didnt have to open my cutout to make pulls.

Sounds like a nice little chip, but DSMLink does so much more. I would be very wary of spending money on this if there is any chance you might need DSMLink's features in the near future.

That said.... if you have a '95 EPROM ECU, and won't have the $615 it costs for DSMLink or the need for it anytime soon, this upgrade is a no-brainer. You cannot tune a DSM well when it has fuel cut and you don't know the knock count. It sounds like this chip takes care of those. For cheap. :)

Think of it this way, if you have a 95 eprom ecu, and have it socketed for this chip, this thing will cost next to nothing, and later down the road you can pay 615 for DSMlink and simply swap chips as they use the same socket, not really that big of a deal IMO.

I wipe my ass with a 100 dollar bill. I mean seriously my tires each cost 2x that, I dont think its that much, and for the newbie out there who is looking to gain performance quickly and reliably it might be a good alternative. It wont be as exact as a programmable system, but it should be pretty close, and he even compensates for deadtime of the injectors not just flow like a stupid Safc would.

Ya for the current 95 users with a nice mods list...

You simply CAN NOT beat the price vs gains.

I managed to get out for a couple hrs to do some pulls and do some tuning. I get more and more impressed everyday by Jeffs "magic chip" :)

The ability to display knock is simply the best thing thats ever come to my car. I was within a few% of good power on my own, but seeing where my knock is now, has made things MUCH more interesting. Ive managed so far to get the needle to budge up a bit during the middle RPM band of my pulls, I just need to do a little more tuning and I should be set.

Im trying to locate some V8s to race over here, I cant seem to find any just driving around

Dammit. There must be some electrical engineer guru that can HELP THE REST OF US OUT. Boy, think of the NON-95 ECU people that would jump at this stuff. 100 bucks for an ECU upgrade? You damn right I'd buy that instantly.

But noooooo... we're stuck saving for AEM PnP. ;)

Cool product. I wonder what "Octane Reset" means....

On the 1G eprom thread in this section, on the last page of the thread, there is some light shed on that octance reset.

Never fear NON 95 owners.. Jeff is going to be making package deals :) 95 ECU AND a chip!! Price to be announced by Jeff

ps. critter loves my car :rudolph:

I have been talking with him lately and he was more than willing to get me a chip for my TSi. Knowledgable guy and UNBELIVABLY honest. A credit to all DSMers out there. I am most likely going to try his chip and see what it gets me I just need to study up more on his controlled fuel modifications.

As long as the pricing is posted on his website and not here then that's fine with us.
gotcha, thanx for the reminder :)

The ecu believe it or not runs different timing maps according to the octane that you are running. I believe this chip will save the highest recorded octane value in the ecu and allow you to always run that map. This is something DSMlink does as well.
