hes right, the 1g started it all, but i prefere the 2g over all. mitsu fuked up when they changed in 2000. i wanted to wright a letter but figured for what that costs i will just go buy some gas and drive. to all 1g and 2g, drive on and keep turning heads. cuz god knows those 3g are only good for a laugh! and for the guy that said the 4g will beat all stock dsm, i would rather loose in style!!!

2000+ Eclipse buyers are different than the 1g and 2g owners on these boards. For me, a DSM will always have one turbo, two liters, and three diamonds.

LOL, how can you say you saved the guy money by beating his stock car with one with mods? Race one stock and lets see if you can take it.

Keep in mind though, the driver of the other car probably was not the greatest of drivers.

I saw this when I was reading a NY Times review of the new Eclipse:

Ya hear that? They didn't make it for you. It's going to be nothin like your Eclipse because they knew you wouldn't buy it anyway. They're not looking for you. And they've plugged your ears to such criticism about the new Eclipse being ugly and not being turbocharged, with all-wheel-drive.

"Meanwhile, enthusiasts who long for turbo power and all-wheel drive, need only cast their eyes toward the fearsome Lancer Evolution IX, a four-door beast based on Mitsubishi's rally-racing cars. By shunning such exotic hardware for the Eclipse, Mitsubishi has kept the focus on affordability, an essential aspect of coupes aimed at young people."

You hear that? If you want turbocharged all wheel drive vehicles, they already have one. Why are they going to reinvent the wheel? The good ol' days of when Mitsubishi had a turbocharged version of every vehicle in their lineup is over. They have other things to worry about, like trying to stay afloat. This car is not for us. It will never be for us. Just be glad it's not the abomination that the 3G was, or better yet, take on an Evo then tell us if you can notch a kill on that one.

i understand that they arent aiming at us but if they fixed the problems of the 4g63 from the factory and put it into a eclipse then i think people might buy it, i would buy one for a dd. and besides, the evo is fast but what about the doors? it has two to many. and who in thier right mind would go buy a 35 thousand dollar car and then rally race it? get real no one wants rock chips and stuff associated with the whole rally scene. we want street credability

BINGO! As much as I like the STI/EVO I can't see myself with a 4 door. That's where a 4G63 AWD Turbo Eclipse would come in handy in the lineup.

I think I ruined a sale

Rolled up to an orange 06 'clipse with dealer tags the other day. It was perfect, no traffic, no cops nothing... A guy in a suit was sitting shotgun with a 30-ish dude in the drivers seat. They had the windows rolled down, as did I.

The salesman looked over at me and pointed at my car... "see, that's one of the old ones. This thing is way faster." "Really?" I say. "Wanna race then?" The driver gets a cocky grin and says, sure. I give him the BOV salute. Suddenly, I think the salesman realised this wasn't an NA Talon, but the good ol' TSi AWD. Apparently he can't read the side skirts...

Light goes green and I slip-drop the clutch from 4000 rpm. Buh-bye. I had a car and a half on him by mid second gear when I let off. He catches me, and paces me. I hear him mat the pedal. So I do too. Turbo spools, and good-bye again. Let off around 100 kph.

We roll up to another light, and the guy goes "what have done to that thing?"
"Intake and exhaust, that's it. You really gonna spend forty grand on that thing?"

Salesman looks less than impressed. "I sure as hell wouldn't" I say as I hang a right off the street into my buddys little cul de sac.

Owned. Felt good. Especially since the jagoff salesman said his was faster.

You are SO lucky. These are the things I'd dream about. I can't imagine how satisfied you felt.

I wouldn't go that far. the new v6 models ran a 14.1 @ 101mph in motor trend [ or road and track..i forget]...making it the fastest .

The 06 4cly eclipse are so slow so it had to be a v6 because there is no way a 4cly would be able to keep up with a awd turbo. I used to work at a mitsu dealership and I drove all them around. Trust me the 4cly are slow. And to the guy that said 1g's are ugly your wrong they are sexy and we dont have crank walk lol.

I am not in no means going at the cars performance,only its looks(then again who cares about looks, when you can run 12s for right around $1000), the 1G compared to a 2G is easier and cheaper to make faster, not to mention a bit more reliable.
