Ok so a little background. Bought the car a couple months ago. Put maybe 500 miles on it. It never made any noises. Brought it to the shop and he replaced all timing components, did a BSEK, replaced rod and main bearings and also put a new OEM oil pump in it. Replaced other little things like vaccuum lines and other non related items. Started driving it and it developed what i though to be a lifter tick. Only happened between about 2500-3000 rpms and wasn't loud like a rod knocking. Ordered new 3g lifters. I put them in today and let it idle for a couple mins. At first it was a very loud tap/knock. After idling for maybe 2 minutes it continued to be loud. Not wanting to make the problem worse i quickly turned it off. How long does it usually take for new lifters to quiet down? Like i said the car made NO noises before and now it does even with new lifters, bearings, and an oil pump. I have heard of maybe the roller arms being able to make this noise? Any response is appreciated.

A lot of ticking or knocking sounds can be different. I know this might sound stupid but check your exhaust. My uncles company truck had a bad knock in it when we hit about 3 to 4 grand, turned out not to be a rod but the exhaust. I don't remember what on the exhaust though, and than again that was a chevy. If i remember what it is i'll post it for you i think it had to do with something between the manifold to the cat. converter.

Dam i soooooo hope that doesnt apply to me. You just ruined my day lol. I sold my DD honda to get another DSM while my other eclipse sits and waits with a knocking motor. Im gonna take the valve cover off today before work. I might let it idle a little more and see what happens. I might have only let it idle for 2 minutes TOPS

I got a real eerie screeching noise but I think it was only when i pushed the clutch in. I think the idiot before me who installed the ACT 2600 might have used the ACT TOB and we all know what can happen with that....Needless to say, I will be removing the transmission.
