Well I finally got a chance to get together with my dad and install my MSD DIS-2 ignition into my '93 NT Talon. All together it wasnt too bad. I mounted the box and the converter to the mid counsel on the passenger side and all the wires reached perfectly. The only part that could hangup a lot of people is connecting the proper arming wires at the coil. The colors of wires in the diagrams that MSD gives you dont match up very well at all. Luckily my dad Is an electrical technition so he could convert the schematics and do tests with his expensive multimeter. I suggest calling MSD and getting better schematics for future installers. Once done it took around 5 hours with lunch and all. I started her up and man did she sound beautiful!!!! I kicked down the revs and woke up my little brother that was sleeping like 50 yards away in the house! I couldnt get her on the street though. I have to go across my lawn to get out of my shop and the ground here is so sloppy right now youd never make it across. If anyone else has done this install let me know what kind of gains you experienced. Ill have to test it here in the summer. Run once on normal ignition with the bypass, then run it on the new exhaust, and finally run it on full nos with programmable ignition retard. Coments and questions, or any remarks Im all ears.

when you take her out on the road tell us how she runs.... i've been thinking about getting the MSD DIS-2.....

Is it the cop or am I the one that's really dangerous?

No problem Ill be sure to post the results. By the way how did you like the results of punching out your cat. I have a high flow racing cat, but Im thinking of either punching that out or putting in a test pipe. Im leaning more towards punching it out in case Im ever pulled over.

it made a difference...it pulls a little harder in the power band...and i like the way it sounds.... those cats are restrictive as hell NOTE: you car will be louder when you stick it:D

How much did you get it for?

wwelll... i am using the stock cat... i took that one off and used a long lead pipe to gut it out... got rid of all that mesh and wire inside of it and i put it back on.. i was pleased w/ the results and it didnt cost me a penny:D

I think the MSD and the converter came out to around 300 or 350 I cant remember how much it was a while ago and I got it on sale from Summit Racing.

TALONLVR - do you have any pics of your install? I just picked up a DIS-2 and I'm looking to see where exactly you mounted yours. You said the wires reached all the way from the console... where did you go through the firewall?

For my mounting location, I'm looking at either the passenger side of the center console, passenger footwell, or on the firewall above the cruise control box. On the firewall would be easiest (battery and coil are within 2 feet either direction) but I'm still not sure if there's good enough hood clearance. I played around with it for half an hour or so earlier tonight, and I just couldn't make up my mind if the DIS-2 was rubbing on the bottom of the hood or not.

Anyway if you could help me out with pics/descriptions of your install I'd appreciate it. I took one look at the center console and thought "there's no way the MSD harness would be long enough..." Any info would be of assistance. :D

I think I have some pics at home, but Im at work right now so that doesnt do us any good at the moment. Anyway I mounted the box and converter side by side on the passenger side of the center councel. Make sure you use nuts and bolts because screws will strip out of the thin plastic of the centercouncel. Make sure you mount it on the lower right side of the councel if you were looking at it from the passenger side and that you can still open your glovebox at least halfway. I also put the tuning sticker on the passenger side of the center councel on the plastic part so I can easily reference it when tuning. As for wireing I cut my own hole in the firewall and made a grommet for it. Everything fit just fine. Make sure you change the rev limit by reprogramming the dip switches. Its set low from the factory so domestics dont overrev their cars and blow them up. Let me know if you need anymore info.

Cool, thanks for the info. If you get a chance to find the pics, please post them, or I can PM you my email address.

I have the dip switches set up like I want them. Retard is disabled, stutter at 4500, revlimit 8750. (yes my motor can take it, and the revlimit on my ECU is 9000.. had her up to 8000 earlier tonight just for fun).

I'm still not sure if it can fit under the hood or not.. it would be preferable to mounting it in the car if there is enough room. I'll have to mess around some more tomorrow to check for hood clearance.

If I mount it in the interior, it would go in the middle of that passenger side console panel... so it would be out of the way of the glovebox. I would have to extend the wires some, but that's not a big deal. Hopefully it fits under the hood so I don't have to mess with it in the interior (my console is already crowded enough as it is... AFC on the drivers side, turbo timer and boost controller in the coin holder...).
