I put in my Worldwide alternator from advance auto and the thing sits crooked.

The pivot bolt is in there right so I dont know why it is like that. I dont know if its the alternators problem or an issue with my car. I was sure it was the alternator until I looked at the one i pulled out. Look at how the holes are machined out to ovals, Im pretty sure it didnt come like that.

Anybody else ever have this problem?

I just put one in form AAP as well, but I dind't have that problem. Take it off, and back to the store. Get them to see if the others they have in stock are the same. I can't remember if there's a sleeve that's supposed to be there or not, but I'm thinking there is.

Either way, don't drive it that way, or you'll be buying a new belt too.

i pulled the alternator to return it and found that the mounting holes on the engine are ovals too. Im thinking about driving it to a shop the way it is and having them put some weld in the holes unless anybody has a different suggestion.

Mine are ovals on both my talons, so I don't see whats wrong ?

When you bolt it all the way up it sits crooked ? You probably don't have it tightened down, otherwise bolting it all the way in would pull it straight, maybe there is something blocking it.

I wonder if the adjustment bracket could be bent a bit, the the loose end towards the engine block. From the pic, it looks like it's kicked out towards the fenderwell. That may bring it back into alignment a bit, enough to get it to a shop at least.
