the c5 and ls1 fbodies are close to the same speed. a z06 eats them both.

My 2002 Z28 with a SLP air lid and SLP cat-back ran a best of 13.08 @ 108.51 and 4,000 miles on the clock. 2.0 60 foots

It's an automatic with 2.73 gears and the stock torque converter

Race him after you get your exhuast and some injectors/afc, you should be able to walk him.

Get some Nitto drag radials and a dual stage boost controller so you can launch your car

All I know is I just got back from Beech Bend dragway where the stock C5's ran 13.3's all day to the 13.7's a trio of 35th WS-6's were running.(it's obviously a slow track, but .4 is not even close)

Guess it all depends..I watched a Procharged 2000 C5 w/ 7psi running a best of 12.7 @ 112mph.

For the most part unless we are talking 2:73 geared cars..the Vette is outgeared below 100mph..Ive never really had issues keeping with a similar HP vette untill ~100mph.. then aerodynamics kicks the fbodys ass

These were times across several runs. Quoting one bad run or a bad driver, or even a good driver having engine or traction issues doesn't really make any point. Seeing the two on the same track with many drivers and several cars proved what I'd noticed all along in my experience.

What gears does the F-Body run stock? They're the same as far as I'm aware (though I'm admittedly not an F-Body scholar).

Once your modded all bets are off. Obviously the torque converter and gears would make anyone faster than a car of equal hp (and no gears). All I can say the two FBody guys I ran today were fast, but they just slowly fell back through the 1/4 b/c of the hundreds of extra pounds and inferior aero. Sorry, they're not equals. Before you say it, yes, the C5 isn't $20k faster...but it's definitely faster.

F-body come from 2:73s up to 3:42s.. The performance package Z28, TransAm, and SS have 3:42 in the M6 and 3:23 for the A4.
Its possible to have a 2:73 car..sadly.. I can't claim to be 100% on the C5 but I believe most run 3:08?/2:73 gears. With very similar RWHP outputs in stock form a better gear in the Fbody would make things interesting for the Vette..but as I said.. Aero kicks our ass I definately agree the C5 all things being equal are faster As I know more C5s hit 12s than Fbodys..cant dispute that.

Thanks for the link.. definately have a different perspective.. The vette does have better exhaust and Intake setups..those MPHs cetainly show that off.. So the A4 2.73 cars are typically 13s from what I gather.. and almost all of the M6 cars were hitting 12s.. never realized that..of course majority of vettes are Auto Lucky for me. Yeah, I'd say 13.5-13.7 would be a decent estimate of their times.

A good number of them have done it at least once.

Well I can't say they have earned a new level of respect...since in about another year Ill own one Im keeping the Z though. Ive always respected them. They always get a big thumps up from me .. no matter what. I just know not to take them lightly now...

It's a good time to buy one, with the C6 coming it has become a buyer's market for C5's. You won't be disappointed, there are many more intangible differences between FBody cars and the Vettes.
