My car is leaking oil right behind the turbo on a pipe that leads to the oil pan (well atleast I think it is). Its dropping once every 30 minutes (I'm guessing). But I have no idea what the problem is and how I could fix it? Can anyone help? Thanks

I have something similar, except mine doesn't really drip as much, it's just kinda moist with oil. I can also see on the top of the turbo where the center secton part is between the two housings, there is a bit of oil seepage. I am thinking it is that little brass seal/gasket thing that is where the oil line meets the turbo. It could also just be the oil lines, so I might get RRE's hi flow steel ones.

If you think it is the oil return line, then the line is probably loose, missing a screw, or the gasket has totally gone bad. The oil return line is on the bottom of the cartridge.
If it appears to be leaking from the top, then the crush washers probably need to be replaced on the oil feed line.

If it is clearly coming from the one that leads to the oil pan than its the oil drain line. Today I installed a 16g and the oil feed line was leaking, but the oil was running around the turbo and then leaking out the bottom.

Okay, so I guess I'll replace both the gasket/seal thingies, and get the RRE line. The RRE Line appears to be just the lower return line....or does it include both the feed and return (?)...

The RRE SS Line is the oil feed. You still use the stock oil return.

Are you talking about this?

Unless the return is cracked or rusted out it's possible that it either need the bolts retorqued or the gaskets replaced. I'd crawl under the car and try retorquing them first. Don't just crank on it use a torque wrench or you might wind up replacing the oil pan...

One big thing that 95% of the people replacing a gasket on the oil reutrn line is the two crush washers for the bottom of the return line.

they're $.06/each, and most times people neglect to replace them and wonder why the fitting is still leaking.

There are no washer on the bottom of the return line. There are just gaskets on either end. There are only crush gaskets for the oil feed line.
Incorrect, and this is why people run into this problem. The two bolts that connect the return line to the oil pan each have a small crush washer on them to seal the threads. Not replacing these usually allows oil to leak out around the threads.

Add another to the list. I never looked that closely but now that you have pointed it out,...

MF660031 6mm gasket for oil return pan bolts. (1 per bolt)
MR258477 Oil return gaskets (1 per end)

Thanks,

Steve

That's the part number for the crush washers that go on the oil return pan bolts to seal them as shown by CAPS.
(the program the dealers use to look up parts and is provided on the Backup Manual on CD disk) They are not shown in the manual drawings that I could find.

stevep your my hero, i have despised oil return lines since i got my talon, the first engine cracked one on the ribbed section.so i hacksawed it in half, put a hose on both end and hose clamped it on. Then it leaked, i must have lost thouse little gaskets for each bolt or something. becaues then i kept tightening them and it owuld sitll leak, i called about buying gaskets, but the dealer told me i ahd to buy a new line to get the gaskets and itwould be 80 bucks, so i had an autoparts stotre trace and cut gaskets for me, they held up for a week, then started to drip bad

then on the engine i have now.. its leaking.. and i want to scream!!!!! but im gonna find a place to order this shit OTHER than the garage i called previously.. thanks

Don't thank me, thank DSSA. I had no idea those were there until he pointed it out. :)

When I did my turbo I had heard the horror stories about the return so I left it alone other than replacing the gasket at the turbo and torquing both ends to spec. It's not leaking, knock on wood.
