I hope this is a good spot :) Feel free to move if it's the wrong place.

I have a 1990 shifter bracket and I am not sure if it is broken or I am missing something from it. Hard to get in gear and I tended to grind it almost everytime..

Could someone please take a sideview snapshot of the shifter bracket?

This is the only pic I can find and a top view does me no good!! I will post my own shifter bracket soon

sounds like it might be missing some of the rubber bushings, I had to replace mine ASAP after I bought the car. I can't really tell from your image but expect to spend around $50 for all 6 or 8 bushings. I'll see if I can get some good close ups for you tomorrow and I'll count the bushings and look for the part number direct from mitsubishi.

I'm not sure exactly, but I am missing whatever goes inside the shifter itself circled in red. I still need to get a pic of mine, but just thought I would get some ideas before hand.

THANKS GUYS!!! :tree: :tree: :tree:

NOt sure what bushings you are talking about, but I have replaced the under base bushings with the sybroski and I have also have the underhood bushings with a kit like this one. http://www.extremepsi.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=22905&cat=571&page=1

As far as I know a lot of people have done the symborski kit, not sure if it's working but I heard a few people say it can damage their transmission. Regardless of that or not, here is something should be helpful to you.

I went "Ghetto" with mine but it has worked on all my DSMs. Use a poly washer for the inside. You can get them at Lowes.

It will get rid of the side to side play. Then I used black electrical tape on the shaft.

Apply a little grease on the tape when done and slide the shifter on and bolt it back together. You can get some brass bushings from EBay for the shift cables too. They really help.

Don't hate because I went cheap with the electrical tape but it works well.

If it works then it's all good. I've gone cheap on parts before and those times actually worsened the situation. Since then I go the manufacturer way. The difference I see between the Mitsu bushings and your washer is that the bushings actually go inside the opening on the shifter shaft. I may have done it the expensive way but I'm happy I did and I'm glad your way is working for you. :) Perhaps when these bushings wear down I'll give it a shot.
