Well two days ago I was merging onto the fwy and when i slammed 4th gear my whole trans blew out as well as my motor sending parts flying through my hood and out from under the back of my car. When I popped my hood no trans to be found there and I did find scrapes of metal and clutch and flywheel etc. everywhere. My intake manifold and throttle body is broke (literally) and all the wiring is completely gone to hell. I'm pretty much needing a full complete swap and wondering where I can get one and how much is it going to cost me?

Wow, you might want to consider buying another DSM and parting out yours. That's the only advice I can give you.

Sorry to hear but at least you are ok...I have to agree with the others that you may want to assess the car before investing in another drivetrain. It may be cheaper in the long run to buy a new car.

And on a side note- Post up some pics when you get a chance.

I did have previous problems with gears not going in easily not sure if that would relate to this.
The flywheel was probably starting to crack/warp, causing the clutch disc to drag.

Your block might be ok, just need a new top end, harness, and trans, along with other odds and ends. Best bet if you want to fix it would be to find a donor car that's wrecked in the back or something, otherwise I'd probably sell it as-is as a fixer-upper would probably be the easiest way out of it. Do you have full coverage insurance? You might be able to submit a comp. claim.

It looks like something went way wrong inside your bellhousing. Sent the clutch/flywheel out of it's cozy home and on a rampage that took out your thermostat housing up to the cas and tb/im. I'd say given you had a scattershield you would've had to replace a tranny at most. Your motor may be fine though. Just needs some bolt on parts. As long as the crank didn't take a beating and you didn't skip timing.

Holy crap thats some carnage. I woulda been scared shitless. If you don't mind me asking, how fast were you going? I can't imagine what an exploding tranny would feel like doing 60+ on the freeway...
Glad to hear your safe.

There have been plenty of instances of people loosing legs or other injury's because of that. Loose flywheel bolts cause that.

You hadn't had any clutch work done recently, have you?
