ok on my friends 91 AWD TSI we are getting the the following codes... 31 said knock sensor and 44 said ignition coil....we are getting knock counts of 40 ..I have the log saved, but dont know how to upload it if someone would take a look at it. We just put in new plugs and wires, and the plugs look fowled already, maybe they arnt, I will get pics of them tomorrow ( I would have to email them to yah) the only other thing on the car is an MBC that is still at 10lbs of boost ( spring is to small) and the aircan is untouched, that is all that is done. PLEASE we need help bad, anything that MIGHT fix this problem is fine, aslo in my tt stealth I can feel when knock hits and hear it, I dont in this car, but I am not use to it so thats why maybe, also the knock decreased if you get on it from a stop and is almost gone when you reach the end of the gears and pops up someitmes if just crusing

The only things that i can think of are that either the intake manni ground isn't securly connected, or possibly the ecu is on it's way out, hard to tell, a little more info would help.

Open the ECU and check the caps. If they're okay, you should try replacing the knock sensor.

ALright, we spent the last 3 hours trying to get this and still nothing. The car only has a 1/2 way hacked aircan (we took the snorkel off) , boost gauge and boost controller (Still at 10lbs of boost), we don't get any knock at idle but as soon as we start going the knock starts. We are just at around 2000 Rpms and we start getting it. When he gets on it and the rpms get higher the knock goes down. We also get it just cruising. We don't hear any clicking from the dash so we don't think its the ecu. We will check it out though. He does also have a bad clutch fork though. We think its the ball joint is bad. So when the clutch is out it rattles a little. Could this be the cause? We pulled the codes awhile ago and got 31 (knock) and 44 (coil). Then we reset the ecu. We changed the plugs and wires and now we don't get any codes. We still get knock though. we have some dataloggs that we saved is anyone wants to take a look at them, aslo what different things should we monitor ( all I do is knock, engine speed, o2, timing, and injector pulse)
