i have a 91 tsi awd and i just instaled 2 1/2 inch upper intercooler piping and now my boost is building up too high too fast. i am hitting fuel cut at about 4000rpm while maxing out the factory boost gauge and this is sitting still as well as driving. any suggestions? thanks

First off i would start off by getting a real boost guage since the stock factory one isnt acurate at all. as for ur boost problem, why are u complaining about boost high to fast lol some of us would want sumthing like that!!! :p do you have a boost controller installed? u should not be hitting the fuel cut, is ur running off a stock turbo? get a boost guage ASAP and find out what you are boosting.

So... youve started modding things like IC piping before purchasing a boost gauge, and a MBC? I see...

Buy/build a boost controller and a boost gauge, and then see whats actually going on with your boost. The fact that youre fuel cutting at 4k indicates you're probably atleast running 16-17psi.

hooked up the boost gauge and its reading 6 psi? but the stock one says above 14. the engine is still bagging back at about 4000rpm and the boost controller is defective because it only blows off when its not hooked up. any suggestion? thanks
Be sure you go back through the vacc line and make sure there were no kinks when you mounted it. Mine did the same thing when i put my gauge in my A-Pillar pod, had a puny kink in it and it would only read 6 PSI and it was really set at 12.

this just happened to me about a month ago when I added a Road race upper intercooler pipe and I boost leak tested that bad boy for about two hours trying to find a leak... Then I went and changed my plugs ( two were gapped to .082 and the other two were bad too jus not that bad) and the problem went away... maybe try that, not like it would hurt anyway...

1) The oil filter backing off has nothing to do with the problems posted earlier in this thread. It is certainly a problem but is just one more problem, not the cause of the other.

2) Stop assuming that the factory boost gauge is accurate. It is not a measurment but a guess by the ecu from calculations it makes. It means nothing. Ignore it and concentrate on your aftermarket gauge.

3) Double check your install of the aftermarket gauge. Running under the wastegate pressure would be doubtful making me think you have pinched the signal line or just installed it wrong. Make sure you tapped for the pressure signal in the right line under the hood.

4) Boost leak test. Don't just look at the couplers and snug them up. Build a boost leak tester like found on www.vfaq.com and use it.

5) Doesnt sound like you are hitting fuel cut. Sounds more like a short coming in your ignition system. Use the correct plugs (NGK BPR6ES) and gap them at .030".
