Just wondering if the 1g's overseas had any cosmetic differences...(besides the left-side steering wheel etc.)

i uploaded some pics of the euro/jdm DSM on the Club DSM Archive pics.dsm.org but the arvhive site seems to be down right now... I will post them here when the archive is back up... basically the euro/JDM eclipse had the turn signals in place of the stock fog lights on the US cars. They also had repeater lights for the turn signals on the fenders close to the doors. The tail lights had amber turn signals instead of the all red on the US version. Also in the pics of the euro DSM that i've seen there is only one reverse light and oppsite the reverse light is a red rear fog light. I'm not sure if this is true but from what i have read on various web sites, the euro/JDM DSMs never had fixed headlights - they always had popups. Also on the later 1g DSMs the front sidemarkers were all amber lens instead of a clear lens with amber reflector. And of course, the speedometer was in KpH.... (as you can tell, i got bored one day and did alot of research on this topic :D )

DSM's were USA only models and were not exported to Japan nor were they ever manufactured in RHD . I dunno where this notion of a JDM spec Eclipse came from......maybe its a Urban myth.
However they have been seen in Germany and some parts of the the Netherlands, but Mitsubishi Europe denies this.
I have imported a 92 Laser RS to Ireland and to my knowledge it is the only one in the british isles.
Funny though ..Evo 1 thru 3 parts fit right on and it is mechanicaly identical to the Mitsubishi Galant E39 VR4..........

Go figure

I will post pics once I get the body mods finished......Some Euro/Rally touches .......just to be different

fspdeejay those pics were very cool - thanks for posting them up! I'm sure you've given a few people some new ideas on how to customize their rides... ;) I must say that one red rear foglight deal is pretty strange!

Bazza2541 - whereabouts in Ireland? ;) I can only imagine the looks you'd get there with a 2G ! :D

One more thing, if anybody wants a "Euro" spec dash, all have you have to do is snag one from a Canadian DSM! :)

The car is currently in Northern Ireland.
It is a real head turner (being the only DSM in the british isles)
The coolest thing I have heard said about it was and I quote "It takes three men to announce that wee blue car........One to say here she comes.......One to say there she is and the third to say.......There she goes" ........apparently one man cant get it all out fast enough..........................

Now if I can only find a way to convert it to RHD

Re: MIRRORS

Funny, no one said anything about the side mirrors being different. Actually is there any way to get those and the tails from an importer, etc?
actually, come to think of it, the mirrors do look different.... i think you're talking about they look like they fold right? that would be consistant with all the other cars they have there in japan (due to their small streets). check out this video.

Like I said before THERE ARE NO JDM ECLIPSES
For the first year the Eclipse was offered in Japan. Check out RoadRace's rally car. Was purchased from Japan with only 1100 miles on it. I wouldn't say they're JDM spec, probably the same as ours, but they did sell 90-91s in Japan. I've seen pics from a site that had the custom gull wing doors on 1st gen Eclipses and it also featured about 50 other Eclipses and they all were in Japan.

If you look at the "japanese" photos the cars are all left hand drive, not right hand drive as they should be.
How do I know that there are no JDM Eclipses....because I tried to buy one.
I finally ended up buying a 1st gen in Chicago and importing it.
There are some european spec but they were non-turbos and all were LHD. The JDM spec rear lights are actually Euro spec.
Eclipses were USA only models and that is a direct quote from Mitsubishi Europe in the Netherlands

well they may not be rhd, but they were made to japanese and eurpean specs with the amber rear turn signals (european/japanese), amber side repeater light (japanese/european), a different front turn signal location where the US fog lights are (japanese), rear fog light (european), amber front sidemarker (later european 1Gs), speedo in kph (canadian, european, japanese).... yada, yada, yada...

I am not arguing about the differences, I just said that there are no JDM Eclipses.
I know this because I tried to buy one.
JDM is hugely popular in Ireland, from Type R Hunduh's to Type RA Scoobys and Skylines we get em all but no Eclipses
so you were basically talking about them not being RHD?? i see...
