if i was to buy a 2nd gen turbo dsm, what would my odds of getting a car with crank walk be? and is it something that just appears? my half brother is in the car dealing business, so he could find me a car probably, but even if it was fine at the dealership, would this problem just develop?

Its like walking out into the street. If your careful you won't get wacked by the 18 wheeler. If your careful on choosing the best vehicle you won't get wacked by crankwalk. I believe it has to do with prior vehicle maitence and sacraficing lambs to god. I have 80k on mine and use Mobil 1, and a disconected clutch switch. no fluctuation in oil psi. If you research there are people on here that swear crankwalk will happen and others who say its a freak thing. Out of the thousands of 2g's produced how many have experienced it , who ???????

Its just like anything else. Those who experience the problem usually make it known in a big way. Multiple posts, on differant forums, a friend who told a friend who told a friend. You will always hear from the ones who had the problems and you will usually hear less about the subject from those who have'nt got it. See what I mean? Just take into consideration that if you buy the vehicle there is a possibility that it may happen. Heres some reading for you incase you have'nt seen this yet. http://www.dsmtalk.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=7945

It seems like a fair amount of modded (gnerally heavy clutches) 2nd gens get then and on this board CW is a frequent topic. Do a search and you'll see.
People say it's a low % of DSMs but they include non turbo models also which make up the majority of 2nd gens.

I have 71k on my car always used mobil 1, removed the clutch switch and at stop lights always put it in neutral. Seriously, I have many many DSM friends, not just 3 or 4, but many, and I dont know a single one that has crankwalked. As someone mentioned its way blown out of proportion. Its like the news, the only time you see it is when someone says "hey I got crankwalk", no one randomly makes posts "gee my car is still crankwalk free today". Its negative publicity and no one really gets to or notices the positive.

O yea, if a Honda boy tells you that crankwalk is bad and not to buy a 2g, punch him in his $3000+ engine swapping face :). I get so pissed at honda guys when they even mention crankwalk, specially when 90% of them to make any sort of power swap in a motor half as strong as ours that costs 3x as much as a JDM motor with turbo/intake mani/tb/etc would cost. Retarded IMO.

The probelm with that is that a lot of people blame a lot of different things on crankwalk. I met these 2 guys once (didn't even get there names) and they BOTH claimed to have had crankwalk in 2 seperate cars each. Thats 4 cars between 2 guys. Yet, the 7-10 friends that I have that are into dsms, non of them have gotten it. Its hard to take a poll when 1/2 the people that claim to have had it, don't know what they're talking about. This post isn't directed at any one person, and I'm not saying there isn't crankwalk..........maybe jsut not as much of it as it seems.
