I didn't realize that the Supra SMIC didn't fit well on the 1g. My plan was to go with the Supra SMIC later and get the UICP now to break up the cost.
Look up JR INtercoolers (Johnny Racer)...He sells excellent Cores that are very popular with DSM's, and has an option to anodize the core black for that sleeper look...Don't compensate the sleeper looks for performance
 
How about getting more air IN, with an open air element, as the stock aircan is restricting you. After you are happy with your mods, get yourself to a dyno, & tune it. You'll be amazed at the difference, once it's tuned properly. I have DSMlink too, & it makes tuning quite simple. ;)
 
You have a few options in my eyes.

1. 2G MAS and filter to fit it. Good mods but you probably aren't outrunning your stock MAS just yet so you probably wouldn't see much of a gain from this. It will be needed down the line though.

2. supra sidemount and hard pipes. This should still come in at less that $500 and provide a nice power increase with tuning. If you plan to do a fmic eventually though these will not be needed. You can always sell the stuff though to make some money back.

3. Wideband. Again....very good to have but at this point it probably won't help too much because you are going to be knock limited by your intercooler when you try to run any real boost.

I would decide your goals and buy an intercooler that fits those goals as your next mod.

Knock is definitely a problem right now stopping me at about 14psi and I am definitley not getting enough air to challenge my EVo16g turbo and 650's.

Does anyone know how much flow my stock 1G MAS and stock air can will handle?

An FMIC would be great but local shops want at least $1000. Can anyone suggest a good source for my budget?

A Supra SMIC fits my budget but most of you are recommending a FMIC. How far can the Supra SMIC take me? Is the volumetric air flow similar between the two set ups? I don't plan on going larger than the EVOIII16G and would like to boost up to 18 psi on 94 octane.
 
Eric just to throw numbers out there, I also run a 16g (level 3 Extreme) but with only 550's. At 20lbs of boost I'm getting about 65% duty cycle on my injectors, zero knock, in fact I'm still rather rich. Why?? I have a front mount intercooler. Do that before you do ANYTHING else. With your mods you are killing your performace without one.
