You can blow HK$ head gasket too.

Anyways, poorman's HKS would be the Mitsu metal headgasket, this is new stuff. Look in FFWD or Turbotrix I think, it's around $100

 

RalliArt 4-layer gasket, they are nice and cheap too. Turbotrix sells them at a resonable price.

 

The factory head gasket from the dealership is just about the best one. Buschur racing swears by them...Mike

 

The stock gasket works fine, but I personally prefer the 4 layer because its thicker, which drops compression a bit and it gives the head a bit more clearance between piston/valves.

 

hey does anyone have an opinion on the hks 1mm gasket. claims a 9.2 compression ratio. i'm asusming that's for the 2g's that start at 8.5 already though.

If your ordering from Conicelli you don't need the part #, these guys already know them. I ordered a bunch of stuff, valve seals, exhaust mani studs, lower window trim, fuel filter, they just ask you what parts, one by one and they almost instantly tell you the price, they're quick like an assembly line.

 

But don't you need a machine shop to do something to your head to run a metal head gasket, because of the aluminum head vs iron cast bottom?

Nope, you just need a fresh flat deck surface on the block and head, just like any other head gasket.
