I have some noise from my car and was wondering can you take off transfer case and just run car 2wd to elminate any possible noise from rear end ,transfer and driveshaft? And if this works why can't a person do this and then dyno as fwd why would they have to buy that vc thing?

I don't think any fluid would leak out tranny output shaft with no tranfer case on there would it?

You will burn up your vicous coupling, so don't do it. Buddy of mine tried using an AWD transmission in a FWD car, ultimately fried the VC.

Can you explain the noise and where it's coming from?

Its hard to say where.I get it think more at 3500 or so and think when let off on gas it makes more noise but that noise might be different type.

I may have multiple noises. So the vicous has to have the transfer case hooked up.Even a few minutes of running like this would damage it? Was only talking driving for a few minutes like this.

STOP driving it!!!I had same thing and just blew the rear end out of my car on the way back from a trip tonight
