A few months ago my wipers started acting up. Every now and then, while using the rear wiper, it would stop halfway and blow the fuse, so I'd replace the fuse and be on my way.

Now the wipers won't work at all and when I replace the fuse and turn on the car it blows the fuse immediately. I'm not an electrical buff so I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions.

Thanks a bunch.

Sounds like a short in the wiring feeding one of the wiper motors. Look for spots where the wire feeds through some sheet metal in the car, trace it back from the wiper motor itself. If you find nothing the. The motor is likely shot.

Yep shorted wires or the wiper motor is shorted internally.

Disconnect the wiper motor connector. Turn on the wiper & if the fuse still blows then you have a short. Time to start taking panels off and tracing it back. If it does not blow then your motor was bad.

Motor could have been going bad and causing more amperage draw on the wiper circuit and finally the motor probable went out completely.

Dual blade wiper blades can cause this as well. there will be too much friction from the blades and put too much strain on the circuit.

The rear wiper on mine was never connected, once connected and fuse in place it was blowing them constantly. It also caused the front wipers to go out as well. Me and my brother were 90% sure it was a short in the wiring, but didn't want to go through it.

Wiring is not your problem. If it does not blow with the rear motor hooked up. Odds are that it is your motor that is bad. If it was a shorted wire it will blow regardless of the motor being hooked up or not when switched on. Read the T/S tip i posted above.
