Blew an alternator belt off last night, was about 5 minutes from home. Watched the temp gauge go up checked, the logger, I said not worth it, pulled over called AAA. Got flatbedded home.

I have a comtec 4 Layer HG and ARP studs. If this was a stock DSM HG and the conditions were the same car per car, would having the 4 Layer and the Head studs prevent the car from blowing the HG as fast?

Just wondering.

Re: If car overheats would 4 Layer HG and Head Studs delay the HG from blowing as Fast?

Probably not. Head gaskets on overheated engines give up the ghost because of head warpage. Good thing you shut it down before it was too late.

What did your logger say? I've seen 157 when my fans quit working on a Summer day and it's fine. I have ARPs and the Cometic as well. IB if it stayed there for awhile my head would have warped.

I just pulled over and dumped a bucket of ice water all over the motor especially on the block and exhaust manifold and it cooled right down. I reccomend doing this next time you overheat...rofl.

 did u mean 257? About two days ago my temp went up to 219 degrees according to my logger but I keept driving for 30 min since I had to work. I think its because of my FMIC tho, since I changed thermostat and cap already and fans work.

I would not recomment pouring ice water on any very hot metal.

You must have meant 257 as 157 is not up at operating temp yet.

Ive had overheating "symptoms" not problems with my greddy fmic. It starts to creap up there on hills on either my old 7bolt or 6bolt. I just drilled some holes into the thermostat(not recommended)

I did mean 257 lol. That was a j/k about the ice water lol. Frontmounts definitly make you run hotter. Fluidyne + FAL FTMFW!

Did you notice that on the logger or on the dash temp gauge?

I agree with greenstreak, pouring ice water on any hot metal is just asking for trouble. If you didnt notice he said he was j/k, it would have probably cracked on contact if he actually did it.
