Hi guys, I bought my DSM in 2006 here in Germany from a man in Hamburg who imports 2G`s on private ways.
I am infected with the japan/nippon poison and love the turbo engines from the little eastern isle.
I knew I wanted a supra, any honda or a 2G...
Finally it became the Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GST from 99.
I had this car with 21 years, not every freak here has a car like this in this age.
It looks so beautiful, I fell in love when first saw it with my eyes.
Here in Germany everyone breaks his neck just to see this car when it drives by.
Of course the Turbo was very important to me.
The cabrio-look is just a bonus to me

I was about 8 years old when my uncle purchased a 95 GSX brand new from the dealership. I loved to watch people drive stick so he took me for a ride and as soon as it hit 3000rpm I heard the turbo spool and the car pull and I've been freakishly obsessed with DSM's ever since.

I owned a 3G Eclipse GT (210 horses 5spd premium package) and loved the performance and aftermarket variety. Also Mitsu. builds very nice tuning cars, so i went w/a 2G Eclipse.

I thought that the Eclipse Spyder GS-T (woohoo, Convertible in a stat that it rains 9 months of the year) is a nicely shaped car, in the price range I wanted to pay for a DD, with a turbo, and still gets great gas mileage. I thought she'd be a pretty book end to my Supra.. For me, my eclipse is mainly just a fun sporty daily driver..
Its only a cool little side note that I own both types of cars Paul Walker owns in Fast and The Furious

I seen a 1g broke on the side of the road, i screamed i want that car as i drove by...

+2, all noobs love the 2g's, I bet ya within one year you will fall in love with the 1g's, no matter how ugly you may think they appear now!myAWDgst said:+1

I always expected that, ya know with all the modding and screwing unnaturally with the mechanics of the car, but In the 1.5 years I have been driving this car (maybe 15k miles) The car was off the road once due to breakage, and that is now (turbo blew up). Granted the car has now been off the road literally as much as it has been off the road, just never problems though.Esky said:

I got mine because at the time it was cheaper to go fast but now slight regrets...I wouldnt consider myself a noob for owning a 2g because I had a 1gb tsi before. I give my self another year and change before I leave the Dsm seen because its a dying breed in my eye.
I am a girl and i have a 1g dsm. I love it so much and i would say yes i could pick up the girls with it, some of my friends love it. I think it is a great car although i can not say it is very cheap to fix when things break. I have a few thousand in a new engine. I am looking to run a low 10 next year at the track, wish me luck. It does go fast though.

Ha! Almost everyone who wanted to go faster for "cheap" got a big kick in the nuts. Yeah we're fast for a week or two, then we have to spend more dough to fix it to get it running again . Good times though, good times.

Yeah, when I bought my DSM, I really didn't know squat about cars in general, let alone a car which I had no idea of its reputation (good or bad). I liked it because it had a turbo and my buddy talked me into checking one out. Unfortunately, I was one of those who caught a beat-to-piss DSM...a leaking clutch master cylinder, a blown turbo, which conveniently wasn't smoking when I picked it up, and had bearings that looked like a well played cratch-off ticket.
So, the turbo went down, and the car was off the road for about two weeks until I got the new one in. Drove it for the rest of summer. Then it was winter, so it sat for five months, then I brought it out and it spun a bearing...God another six weeks. Got it a new 6 bolt engine, and had to replace the clutch, TOB, and flywheel because those were in really rough shape. Had it running for about 2 months, put it away for winter...brought it out, and after a week of driving, I was blowing smoke again. What the hell? New turbo is toast. It's been over a year now, so there's no warranty left.
So, I put the turbo in and everything and it's running, but making a nasty whine which is coming from the oil pump, as far as scoping can tell.
But hey, if all goes well...I will be the proud but even more broke owner of a 90 GSX with a 3rd gear synchro problem...lord it never ends.
So I'll be joining the 1g ranks too; maybe I'll have a shot at "X's" Featured Car?

i have always liked DSMs and i was looking though the paper and found a 1990 eagle talon tsi AWD 94K for 1600 so i just had to buy perfect condition.
