I made 275 @ 15psi on my Evo III 16g with pump gas (92oct). Thats all I could get out of the car when I had the stock fuel pump in the car. Changed the pump, got 650cc injectors instead of the 550s I had, cranked the boost to 28psi and ran 376 on 119oct. Thats with a 6 bolt to... Lower compression, so you would probably make a little more since you have a higher compression ratio.

Like Shabby said... Get all the supporting mods first. Different mods are going to help make more power than stock parts. Keep upgrading!

I have a 98 GST also.

It really depends on the 16G you have, but most you can squeeze out of the 16g's for our cars with all of the supporting mods is up to 380hp at the flywheel. I think Mr. Welch at RRE wrote that somewhere on his website.

Regarding running 28lbs of boost on the 16g, it's likely that the turbo was running past its efficient range, but as long as the operation condition is between the surge limit and the choke area of the turbo flow-map, you can get more hp pumped out with decreasing efficiency. The race gas was a smart move.

Another thing that happens with running a turbocharger past its effiency range is the rapid wear on the bearings which might lead to premature failure of the component.

I ran 24psi from a 50 trim on my bone stock 7bolt everyday. It's all in the Tune...

i asked this question back a while ago to extremepsi (about their evoIII 16G 7cm^2). they claimed 380whp. and this (i think) was considered with a port job, but maybe not. if you're running around 400whp, you're pushing it, for most 16Gs. you dont want your turbo to be running on the ragged edge of destruction. thats just unhealthy for it.

15 PSI: 290 ft/lbs 344 WHP (crept to 20 PSI)
20 PSI: 344 ft/lbs 344 WHP
25 PSI: 400 ft/lbs 375 WHP
30 PSI: 436 ft/lbs 397 WHP (fell to 23 PSI at redline)

I think slowboy is a reputable source :)
That's why I hate posts like this. Now someone is going to bolt on an EVO III on their otherwise stock car and expect to get those numbers. Do you realise that some people with 50 trims on a 2.0L can barely get those numbers? *shrugs*

That's true, a guy at my work was just complaining that he can only get 400whp out of his 50 trim with every supporting mod on there.

Well, if someone can't figure out that they don't bolt on a 16g and can run 30 psi and 400+ whp, they shouldn't be modding their cars in the first place. Eh, I know what you mean, I just posted it to show that it HAD been done, and not on a stroker either. :shrugs:

I was still learning things about using methanol when I ran a 12.2 @ 109. The 1/8th time was 7.8 @ 90, so I didnt gain the normal 24-25 mph I use to gain.

I was at about 25psi on an Evo 16g, running pump/methanol. Other mods are the normal cams, fmic, dsmlink, etc. Stock block, headgasket, trans, intake mani..

so u guys r sayin i could run 20 on stock bottom end? daily? as long as i tune tho right
Yes...........Although my stock 7bolt bottom end is now in the junkyard with holes in it from #3 rod snapping. I don't think it had anything to do with running 20+lbs of boost though. I think that rod was weak from the time of production. Somebody missed something in the production process, hairline crack, bad metal, who knows.

91turbolaser: You seem to be under the impression that the motors just let go at a certain psi. It all comes down to tuning and supporting mods. Build all important areas of the car to run high boost and you can do so daily. You just have to know what you are doing. It isn't a case of the rods being rated at 44 hours of operation at 20 psi.

Start at low boost and work your way up until you see knock. That is the limit YOUR car can do on pump gas. Just because I run 25 psi doesn't mean you will be able to.

Also those numbers are unrealistic for a 16G. Sure it has been done but that is a very small percentage of people that would ever see numbers like that out of their 16G. Most don't top the low 300s at the wheels on pump gas.

i disagree. one can come close to 300whp by just doing basic upgrades and still retain the T25. by "coming close" i mean above 250whp. if you're a good tuner, or have it done professionally, will the normal supporting mods, you can get 350whp out of a EVOIII16G (ported). but i think it would be a lot harder getting the final 50 or so hp out of the same turbo.
